Between the Arrivals and Departures floors of Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), passengers experience Oculus– a 220-foot immersive, curved LED video wall installation suspended at a complex 60-degree angle. This one-of-a-kind project utilizes ISAAC for content management and monitoring, ensuring a reliable and smooth user experience.
Behind this stunning LED experience is a highly technical content management system, powered by ISAAC. Oculus features a mix of dynamic and interactive content, which presents unique playback challenges within the media system. Smart Monkeys collaborated with Ford AV to develop a custom frame-locking solution, ensuring the dynamic content stayed perfectly sync’d across the entire installation.
“I knew this was going to be an incredibly complex project. Nothing like this had been done before in an airport space—the size, the shape, the complexity was going to present a big challenge.”
— Darryl, Chief Technology Officer, Houston Airports
Oculus shows the power of creative collaboration and innovative technology, not only to create impressive installations, but to enhance the storytelling of public spaces.
“It is 100% meant to be an element that shares the sense of place for the city of Houston. This is the opportunity for us to really showcase Houston’s sense of place and highlight what the city has to offer. For many, this is their first experience of Houston—and for others, it’s the last thing they see before they leave.”
— Darryl, Chief Technology Officer, Houston Airports
